Marie Rogerson is a conservative politician and anti-LGBTQ+ activist in Florida. She is known primarily for her work as the executive director of Moms for Liberty.

Education and Career

Marie Rogerson is said to have graduated from Brigham Young University in Idaho with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and an emphasis on Latin American History. At age 21 she was a Spanish Speaking Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and studied abroad in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize.

Rogerson was a foster parent to 13 children in one year then became a Campaign Consultant and Director of Operations for Foster Florida Inc.

She was the PTO President for Sea Park Elementary (2016-2017).

She is a Campaign Consultant and manager who worked on Randy Fine’s campaign (2018) and Tina Descovich’s school board campaigns (2016, 2020).

She is Director of Development at Mom’s for Liberty.

Moms for Liberty

Moms for Liberty is a Florida-based hate group, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, with nationwide chapters that regularly attempt to stuff local school boards to institute book bans and weaken education on racial inequality and LGBTQ+ matters.

Of the current leading members of Moms for Liberty, Rogerson is the only member not to have contributed to the group’s foundation. After the departure of Bridget Ziegler, Rogerson was brought in to replace her on the group’s board, likely owing to her existing experience in managing political campaigns, including the 2018 campaign for Florida state Rep. Randy Fine.
Rogerson has made several appearances and statements on behalf of Moms for Liberty, including defending the group’s attempts to weaken teaching about non-white history under the guise of “killing ‘woke’' as a concept. When Brevard County schools allowed LGBTQ+ students to choose when and with whom to share their gender identity and sexuality, Rogerson claimed the policy left parents out of the process. The ACLU notes LGBTQ+ students are not always safe at home and outing them to their parents is a potentially dangerous move.

When the Southern Poverty Law Center labeled Moms for Liberty a hate group for their opposition to mask mandates, LGBTQ+ rights, diversity education, campaigns for book bans, and strong ties to alt-right politicians, Rogerson called the SPLC a “radical organization.” An unnamed donor promoted on Rogerson’s Twitter allegedly promised to match donations up to $300,000, further calling the group’s financial backing into question.
