Debra W. Soh is a freelance journalist, columnist, and sexologist who is known for writing articles opposing transgender rights in the media. Her work has appeared in outlets such as Washington Examiner, Quillette, and Wall Street Journal. She has made several podcasts that each touched upon transgender issues, and has appeared on the TV talk shows of Bill Maher and Dr. Phil.
Her most notable work is a book published in 2020, which covers gender issues as presented for a layman audience. This book promotes the concept of essential differences between the sexes, and disputes the validity of trans folk.
So much of gender ideology is based in sexual coercion.
Education, Credentials, and Affiliations
Soh earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Neuroscience from York University, defending her dissertation on June 17, 2016. James Cantor is listed as a member of her examining committee. She has subsequently worked as a columnist, podcaster, and media personality and has no published research on gender dysphoria.
Opinion Writing
Throughout her career, Soh has published over 420 articles across nearly a dozen different outlets. Soh is a frequent contributor for the Washington Examiner and for Quillette. She has frequently promoted the idea that a large number of transgender youth are mistaken about their gender identity due to a social contagion effect, an idea that experts in the field agree there is no evidence in support.
Media Appearances
Soh has written a book on trans issues entitled The End of Gender: Debunking the Myths about Sex and Identity in Our Society. The book promotes the idea that there are essential biological differences in the psychology between the sexes, and denies the legitimacy of transgender individuals. It has resulted in praise from Ben Shapiro, and has garnered Soh interviews and media acclaim, such as in Reason Magazine. She has also appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast to discuss the book. Soh has also appeared with Joe Rogan to speak against the Covid-19 vaccinations.
Soh’s most notable work outside of her book is her self-produced podcast, the Dr. Debra Soh Podcast. The podcast primarily consists of discussions with conservative and far-right personalities such as James Lindsay and Chris Rufo. They discuss a variety of issues, such as why gender transitioning for minors needs to be limited or how there are innate psychological differences between men and women.
Soh was also briefly a host on Quillette’s short-lived Wrongspeak podcast, with co-host Jonathan Kay. The planned topic was about the way science supported ideas that are unsayable and politically incorrect. Only three episodes were produced.
She has also discussed her views on gender on the Ben Shapiro Show and on Scott Barry Kaufman’s podcast alongside trans porn actor Buck Angel. Her website also lists television appearances with Dr. Phil and Real Time with Bill Maher.
